Scaling Up Protection: Equipping Forest Stewards at Camp John Hay
John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) in partnership with DENR-CAR, held a DENRO Training at the Bell House to strengthen the enforcement of environmental laws and forest conservation efforts within the John Hay reservation area.
Attended by forest patrols, JHMC Safety and Security Department (SSD), and Environment Management Division (EMD) staff, the training covered key legal frameworks, including PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code), RA 11038 (ENIPAS Act), DAO 97-32, DAO 2008-22, and timber scaling techniques to address illegal logging.
DENR-CAR resource speakers led interactive sessions, equipping participants with practical skills in law enforcement, documentation, and biodiversity protection. The training reinforced DENROs’ vital role in safeguarding forestlands and highlighted JHMC’s social responsibility in engaging communities toward sustainable stewardship of the communal forested area at Camp John Hay.
