JHMC to Launch Adopt-a-Benguet Pine Tree Project

BAGUIO CITY- John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) is reviving the revolutionized tree protection and preservation through an Adopt-a-Benguet Pine Tree Project and it shall be the precedent of future fauna and flora adoption projects of the corporation.

The project aims to conserve the native plant species that can be found at the John Hay reservation.

With the rapid decrease of these native plant species, the JHMC aspires to involve the community through this preservation effort.

A total of 78 live Benguet Pines were already identified for adoption and these are spread all over the John Hay Special Economic Zone Area.

The JHMC guarantees prospective adopters that the Benguet Pine adopted shall be maintained for its environmental value. A marker, bearing the adopter’s name and his or her special message, if any, shall be placed at the foot of the tree in recognition of his or her advocacy for environmental preservation.

A certificate of adoption will also be given wherein a GPS (global positioning system) location will be inscribed in order for the adopter to create a bond and visit their adopted tree anytime.
