However, with the continuing threat of infection brought about by the coronavirus, the Department of Education (DepEd) decided not to implement Brigada Eskwela this year. Nonetheless, activities may still push through depending on the quarantine classifications in some areas. As DepEd Memorandum No. 048 series of 2021 entitled 2021 Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines, reads:
DepED further adds that if said activity is allowed, schools shall strictly implement the prevailing laws, rules, and regulations imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Department of Health (DOH), and local government issuances relative to the matter.
To augment the resources of DepEd, John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) extended support by donating various school supplies, sanitation, and hygiene kits to Happy Hallow Elementary School, Country Club Village Elementary School, Jose P. Laurel Elementary School, and Camp 7 Elementary School. To enable schools in times of disaster, basic emergency kits were provided to Baguio City National High School-Hillside Annex.
Yearly, JHMC conducts inspections and surveys of the public schools inside its area of responsibility to see their actual needs as part of its corporate social responsibility project. END
