JHMC Plants 800 Arabica Coffee Seedlings in Observance of Arbor Day

Camp John Hay, Baguio City – Arbor Day has been established to be observed on every 25th of June under Republic Act No. 10176 entitled, “An Act Reviving the Observance of Arbor Day by Authorizing the Local Government Units the Responsibilities for Celebrating the Day
for Tree Planting as an Annual Event.”

John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) in line with its mandate and commitment prepared a three-day event in adherence to this nationwide environmental activity which aims to instill to its employees and stakeholders the role and importance of trees in ecological stability.

Yearly, JHMC unites and collaborates with other environmental forces to combat the depletion of our natural resources and revive our environment by providing effective measures for their maintenance and sustainability.

With this, JHMC personnel planted 300 coffee seedlings on June 25. These were planted on the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) property located at Barangay Camp 4, Sitio Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet.

For the entire activity, a total of 1.8 hectares will be covered as a planting site and 800 Arabica Coffee Seedlings will be planted.

The next schedule of planting activities will be on July 1 at Upper Dagsian, Baguio City, and an ocular inspection was conducted at a possible planting site at Ambassador, Tublay.

The JHMC encourages residents to undertake similar activities in order to increase forest density in the City of Baguio and Benguet. END
