Tublay, Benguet – A year after the tree planting activity that was held at the communal forest of Barangay Daclan on June 30, in Tublay, John Hay Management Corporation (#JHMC ), through its Foresters, carried out an assessment and monitoring of the Benguet pines that were planted in the area on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, to determine the survival rate of the planted saplings.

Out of six hundred (600) saplings planted, three hundred six (306) survived the extremes of the environment, such as water supplies, elevation, soil qualities, and other variables.

The assessment is important to assure the success of the corporation’s reforestation activities, while monitoring helps to track and document their development, survival, and health in order to identify and address any possible risks or problems that may affect their survival. The useful information gathered helps assess the project’s environmental, social, and economic impacts, such as biodiversity protection, soil erosion prevention, and livelihood enhancement. Significantly, #JHMC is informed and aided in arriving at a more sound decision on the effectiveness and sustainability of its reforestation initiatives. END
