Girl Scouts Hold Three – Day Scouting Activity At Scout Barrio Open Field

The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Baguio City Council successfully held a three-day scouting activity from February 6 to 8, 2026 at the Scout Barrio Open Field, led by Camp Director Dr. Jennifer B. Biagtan and her dedicated team.

The event gathered girl scouts from across the city, immersing them in activities designed to build resilience, leadership, and practical life skills. Camp highlights included Basic Life Support training, outdoor survival skills, cooking without utensils, fire building, and a talent showcase, all aimed at fostering independence and teamwork among participants.

In his message, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manjit Singh Reandi emphasized the deeper purpose of scouting:

“I don’t just see students or scouts. I see future leaders. I see young women who are learning early what it means to serve, to stand up, and to care, not only for themselves, but for others and for the community.”

He reminded the scouts of the importance of living with integrity in the digital age:

“Tandaan ninyo, mas mahalaga pa rin ang totoong buhay kaysa likes at followers. Ang tunay na sukatan ng isang tao ay kung marunong siyang maging mabait, tumulong sa kapwa, at gumawa ng tama, kahit walang camera, walang selfie, at walang post.”

Singh Reandi emphasized the core values of integrity, discipline, service, and courage, encouraging scouts to embrace mistakes as part of growth. He likened leadership to the trees surrounding Camp John Hay, quietly growing, deeply rooted, and strengthened by time:

“Growth should never be rushed, it begins by strengthening the roots, because strong leaders grow like trees, quietly, patiently, and deeply rooted in values.”

In closing, he urged the scouts to face the future with confidence and compassion:

“The world may be rough, noisy, and uncertain, but you are not being raised to be shaken by it. You are being prepared to face it, to rise above it, and to make it better. Keep learning. Keep serving. Keep believing in yourselves. Walk forward with courage, lead with kindness, and stand firm in who you are.”
