JHMC and KHAI Unite for Camp John Hay’s Equestrian Traditions

The John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) has formally entered into a Short-Term Lease Contract with the Kabadjo Handlers Association, Inc. (KHAI), reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and equestrian activities within the camp. The agreement was signed by JHMC President and CEO Manjit T. Singh Reandi and KHAI President Jason L. Alkera.
Spanning a one-year lease period, the contract affirms KHAI’s enduring role in enriching the tourism landscape of Camp John Hay. Under this agreement, KHAI is entrusted with the stewardship of the leased premises, ensuring its general maintenance, sanitation, repairs, safety, and security. These responsibilities are aligned with JHMC’s strict mandates on environmental compliance, reflecting the JHMC’s commitment to preserving the integrity and sustainability of the camp’s natural and cultural heritage.
More than a lease, the agreement reflects JHMC’s continued support for the horse handlers and their families, many of whom have built their lives around the trails and traditions of Camp John Hay. It safeguards livelihoods   while   preserving   the    pride,   resilience,     and    generational knowledge rooted in Cordillera’s equestrian culture. At its heart, the contract also rekindles the land’s ancestral role, once a pastureland nurtured by native communities, honoring heritage through present-day stewardship.
