JHMC Trains Its Personnel to Fire Brigade and Emergency Preparedness

BAGUIO CITY- John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) being the steward of about 53% forested land in the City of Baguio, in its earnest effort to preserve and protect the forest watershed within its jurisdiction, provided an intensive training to its frontline personnel on Fire Brigade and emergency preparedness.

The intensive training which consist of written and practical exercises was facilitated by the Bureau of Fire – Baguio City and it lasted for five days.

Trainees were educated of the basic first aid, firefighting, search and rescue and rope works for high angle rescue.

With the sprawling area of more than 625 hectares covering a portion of fourteen (14) barangays which the JHMC manages, the protection and preservation of the forest watershed is its primordial concern.  Thus, it strictly implements forest and environment protection programs which aims to maintain forest density, clean air and water resources.

To further fulfil this mandate, the JHMC deputized several of its personnel and security providers as DENR Officers who have authorities to enforce environment and forest laws, rules and regulation within the Camp.

Forest watershed sustains life. The watershed located within the reservation supplies water to the neighboring communities and provides habitat to numerous plants species and animals.  Hence, the JHMC efforts various programs to address pollution, runoff and erosion, which interfere the quality of our watershed.

With the leadership of Allan R. Garcia, JHMC President and CEO, the corporation remains vigilant and stern in enforcing forestry laws, rules and regulations, apprehending illegal occupants, excavation and illegal tree cutting activities in the reservation.
