JHMC Solidifies Gender and Development Awareness of Employees

El Cielito, Baguio City – To integrate a gender perspective in JHMC’s plans, activities, and programs, a one-day seminar on the basic concept of Gender and Development was conducted last June 8, 2018 at El Cielito Inn, Baguio City.

Present during the seminar were male and female employees of the corporation.

During the event, Ms. Reina P. Olivar, a Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) accredited trainer, facilitated the discussion on the various contexts of gender and development within and outside government offices. This includes the distinction between sex and gender, understanding the changing concept of gender roles, and the use of gender fair language.

Other related laws such as the Magna Carta of Women, the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, Gender-Fair Language Act, the Anti-Sexual Harassment Law were also discussed.

The John Hay Management Corporation continues to solidify the awareness not only of the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) but also the non-GFPS members in order to live up to its calling in providing learning and growth opportunities to its personnel as mandated by law. END
