BLACK NAZARENE IN JOHN HAY FOR HOLY WEEK SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

BAGUIO CITY — Camp John Hay is not just a  leisure and relaxation venue,  but a place for reflection where people can solemnly observe their cultural practice as Christians during the weeklong “Semana Santa,” together with their families and loved ones.
A replica of the Black Nazarene will arrive from Manila and be  brought to the Bell House Amphitheater at Camp John Hay on March 19. It will stay there until March 28.

In the duration of the Black Nazarene’s  stay in this premier tourist destination, families can come together  to reflect, do the stations of the cross and pray the  Holy Rosary as they continue to take a break in this summer destination. There will also be daily masses at 4 p.m., except on Good Friday and Black Saturday.
Dr. Jamie Eloise M. Agbayani, President and CEO of John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) said that families can enjoy Baguio and Camp John Hay while they pursue their religious obligations.
“Amidst the tranquility provided by the forest of John Hay and the cool weather of Baguio compared to the lowlands, families can join the nation in communing  with our savior Jesus Christ during the Holy Week,” said Dr. Jamie Eloise M. Agbayani, President and CEO of John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC).
On its second year, the activity organized by the John Hay Business Club (JHBC)  led by President Tetchie Pantaleon in partnership with JHMC is offering a different observance of the Holy Week,  far from the commercialized celebration that has sadly been the norm for the past years.
The replica of the Black Nazarene is owned by the late  Mr. Chito Nepomuceno, father of  Baguio-based businesswoman Lynette Co. Together with her husband Edgardo “Dodo” Co, they  worked on bringing the Black Nazarene here to fulfill the wish of their dad.
Holy Week, starting Maundy Thursday is declared as a national holiday in the country. With its long vacation for workers and students, families take advantage of this long vacation and Baguio being a popular destination is a perfect place to relax, rewind and reflect.
